While this series feels more like a Disney Channel show than the original, it's a fun romp and the cast of mostly fresh faces is magnetic. The series is definitely skewed towards a young audience with the lead being a group of teens/twentysomethings who start hunting for an ancient Mayan/Incan/Aztec treasure once they find a clue in an old storage locker. Who doesn't love a treasure hunt? Who doesn't love ancient secret societies? Who doesn't love Catherine Zeta-Jones as a ruthless villain with a bleach-blonde cropped bob? Building on the success of Nicolas Cage's original National Treasure film, in which he famously steals the Declaration of Independence, this new series brings back the historical, race-to-find-the-treasure madness of the original with a whole new cast.
